Next up....Re-hab and assessment....

Wednesday July 6, 2011 20:16:

Major set back on the training front. See below.......

Monday June 27, 2011 17:40:

Update on Managing an Injury just uploaded...........

Sunday June 19, 2011 16:05:

Quick reflection on yesterday's little outing.

Things that I thought would go wrong didn't and things which I've never really experienced did (?). Strange this world isn't it (?)

Anyway the walk ended for me at Le Braye (50k in)............

Figures were:

Distance 50.4k
Moving Time 11hr 08min
Stopped Time 43min
Moving Avg 5kph
Overall Avg 4.7kph

The weather was a factor, big winds and sudden rainfalls (heavy at times) but not a factor in my withdrawal.

Around Greve De L'ecq I was (for some reason) feeling tired (?). I did actually say to myself that if the bus was there that I would pull out. But I didn't (and yes the bus was there). Anyway, going on from there I knew that my aim of 12hrs was gone and that I should just enjoy the views and 'jog' on.

Even that didn't help.

Going through towards Grosnez (3.3ml) wasn't nice, and going through Plemont the winds were now in our faces, and we were exposed to the full force (F7/8).

There was a drinks (check point) station @ Grosnez, but I moved on straight away. I wasn't dehydrated (been peeing) not hungrey (junk'ish food at stations) just needed to carry on.

But things weren't getting any better. For some reason I was feeling tired. Yawning all over the place (?). Now that doesn't sound good.

Dropping down onto St Ouens beach (eventually !!)(5.2ml Grosnez>Le Braye) I found myself 'wandering' all over the 'shop'. About halfway I decided to drop out at Le Braye.

Why (?) Well I was wearing a water proof jacket which allowed the sleves to be removed via a zip. Now I couldn't work out how to put the sleves back on whilst walking across the beach (!).

Now experience tells me that is just shear tireness and fatigue (see Top Gear challenge 'The North Pole' with Hamster and the dogs). Reaching the slipway at Le Braye, I just walked up and handed in the rest of my 'tickets' without thinking about it.

The reason (?) Well I've heard of so many people say that they which they had stopped earlier and not carried on (mainly through injury). Its not a 'one off race', its yearly (!) so learn from it (!).

So tickets in, no turning back now (still no great food) but this is the a 'sign of my tireness', where are we (?) yes at a cafe (full of food!!). Oh well..............

Sitting down out of the wind I eventually figure out how to do my 'zips' up (!!). Now I have to figure out how to get back home. Bus stop across the road, but when is the next bus (?).

What did I do (?) Walked across the sand dunes to Les Quennvais to catch the No15 back into town (how ironic, nearly walked home...doh!!).

Next Year (?)...maybe.....................

Friday, June 17, 2011 15:00:

Oh and all the bikes have now been sold :( ................ (not for a profit either!!)

Well that'll stop me riding for a while :)

Friday, June 17, 2011 14:54:

Pre Itex walk talk.................

Weathers not looking to good, big winds and chance (big chance) of rain. Oh well I knew the risks.

On a brighter note (sorry) at least the calf problems have 'calmed down'. Hopefully after this (rest 48hrs) I shall be able to test it properly. Slowly slowly catchy monkey time......................

Tuesday May 10, 2011 21:35:

A sad day for all racing fans/followers. The death of Woulter Weylandt during the Giro D'Italia who was riding for the Leopard Trek team has shocked many people.

On behalf of the DFS Bikers I would like to offer my sympathys to the family of Woulter.

Wednesday March 9, 2011 16:18:

The End

In short my cycling days for this year 2011 are over. Knee's recovering (I hope) but the back hasn't. Therefore must make decision NOW not later and withdraw.

Running is my aim now.....only if knee gets the go ahead.................

Saturday February 19, 2011 18:13:

So one (1) by one (1) the 'rats are leaving the sinking ship'.

Isn't it funny how the people Stuart Svyret mentioned (several times) in his blog and court cases are leaving(?) or is that just me(?)...............

Fun fun fun fun fun.........................oh and one (1) rule for one (1) and another rule for another one (1). Amazing how the Data Protection Law seems to differ (strange that!!).

If the shoe fits (and another doing nothing for £40K a year)

Sunday January 30, 2011 9:34:

Been a while since last post, but hey nothing really to post, usual Government 'blah'....but....maybe just maybe people might begin to realise just how bad our problems are.

No not just the Ministers, the large amount of complacency 'out there'. Yes our 'boys in power' have to do something, but some people also have to acknowledge that 'times are a changing!'.

Me, well lying here watching the tennis (Mens Final in Oz), recovering from my knee op. Had a chance to get it sorted @ short notice and grabbed it with both hands. 6 weeks recovery time (if all goes well) had to polish and trim the bone (hence 6 weeks).

Did I mention that I'm wearing tights as well(?)..........oh the joys(!)......on a plus side I can do a car boot sale next week (Sat) get rid of all my crap (sorry useful items for around the house if I'm selling).

Wednesday December 8, 2010 20:36:

And the magicians have waved their wands. Chief Minister apologies for the abuse suffered by many.........all nicely hidden and produced on budget day, hence limiting the publicity. Old tricks normally work well.

Not sure how they are going to hide the Zero tax thing though.

TIMBER.......if thats illegal and its cost us £50m + just how much is it going to cost to put it right? God help us!!

Tuesday December 7, 2010 18:47:

Now the recent weather 'conditions' has got me thinking. Which has lead to a question;

potty

'To Pee or not to Pee?'

Due to the chilly nature of our weather at the moment the above question could have a couple answers really. One answer for a male person and the other for a female person.

Why? Well just how much clothing does one have on?

Modern technology will allow you to have 'minimal' layers on, unlike years ago when 3 or 4 layers was the norm! So going back to the original question and depending on ♂ or ♀ when do you go, if ever (on the ride that is?).

Ladies you must have a very strong 'grip on your bladder!' (much like the purse strings really!!)

Sunday November 7, 2010 21:12:

1st round of redundancies are announced (well the numbers are).

All top Civil Servants and Senior Managers, there's a shock(!)

Again as previously mentioned, just what do they do(?) or now in fact 'did do'(?).

Tuesday October 26, 2010 12:30:

Banning smoking in private cars?

Who's going to 'police' that? Blimey local plod can't even 'police' drivers on their mobile phones yet(!!)

Why not hit people with 'hard adverts'. The austrailians have been doing it for years, and boy those ad's are 'hard and good'.

Only watch these if you have a 'hard stomach' - One / Two

Wednesday October 20, 2010 18:53:

I didn't know that the States are allowed to buy 'second hand vehicles'? Not that the one 'left to float' in St Aubins Harbour will be worth much now...doh!

And off we go again.....out sourcing and selling our assets.....brilliant, both don't work(!)

I still don't know where all our monies go......let me just think here......39 Airport Managers(!!) on over £60k during '09.............nope still don't know(!) I'll come back to you if I figure it out..............

Tuesday October 19, 2010 19:29:

Ok is it just me or can anyone else find something wrong with the following statement:

' But John Sidebottom, of the Taxi Drivers' Association, said there was no need for an age limit and it was difficult to know drivers' ages.'

Click the statement to find out where it comes from. Under the title of 'Age Limits for taxi drivers'

Yet another 'unaccountable section' of Jersey.

Sunday October 17, 2010 14:45:

Right so the Ministers want to save some 'cash' do they?

Here's some helpful ideas from yours truly..........

1. Appointment of new Treasury Head -

Appoint someone locally, we pay for her travel/accommodation(£24k py) and no doubt her next 'offspring'! and she gets a 1K status, meaning she can stay here for ever (no doubt headhunted after her contract expires!)

Saving - £170k (overall - 170k)

2. Remove all of the Deputies and Constables (back to your parishes please) and let the parish pay for your salary, and then maybe you might be accountable(!)

Saving - £1.6m (overall - £1.81m)

Also making note that the States will change the number of Ministers(etc) within the system, FROM 2016 (funny that after the next round of elections!!) DO IT NOW YOU IDIOTS!

3. Government Departments

Remove all of the 'dead wood' and the people who, well really, DO NOTHING!, or should I say 'Can you tell me what you do?'.

Chief Ministers Department - Bill Ogley (£200k) (Who has allegedly acted illegally on numourous occassions and still holds a job) John Richardson (£150k) (Who job was created to do what?) Considering his old job is still there and being done by someone else.

Education, Sport and Culture - Remove some Development Officers within Sports, Andrew Winnie (£20k pa) (who develops only his own interests!) JSAC.

Home Affairs Department - Steven Austin Vautier (£120k) Why have we got a 'Chief Officer' when each department has already got a 'Chief Officer'?

Savings - £490k (overall - £2.3m)

I would go further, but I think you've got the idea so far (for a Sunday)

So £2.3m saved in 1hr, reasonable me thinks...................

And just as a footnote and thought, this is really only the 'tip of the iceberg' because the recession hasn't caused this, the Ministers has caused this, so therefore - JUST HOW ARE YOU GOING TO RE-COUP THESE MONIES OR ARE WE GOING TO HAVE TO CUT MORE AND MORE? WHERE'S THE LIGHT AT THE END OF THE TUNNEL. NO TOURISM NO FINANCE NO NOTHING(!?!).

Laters......................................

Saturday October 16, 2010 21:59:

Getting bored(!)

Now shall we start the 'blogging' again(?)

The States of Jersey f**k ups.......................be ready people(!)

Just how did we end up in the situation we are in now(?).............ah yes sign an agreement that brings in less Monies (£50m and counting) and blame the recession(!). Then hit the taxpayer and all of your essential services(!!)....timber(!)

Laters..........................

Wednesday September 1, 2010 18:05:

Just a quick update. Having still got the recurring knee problem things are a little 'slow' around here. Hence no real inputting (don't bother with local things either, don't think I've got enough 'room' for the recent issues!).

Anyway Kayaking and fishing (from said kayak) is the order of the day (weather permitting).....Oh and the odd gym session (November - winter work - sessions being done) so if all goes well (knee) I think it'll be a lot more biking during the winter (arse about face really!)

Monday July 12, 2010 7:41:

Congrat's Spain (just result!) Football just about won, unlike the Dutch tactics(!)

I've never seen someone who thinks the world is against him -

Aijen Robben - somebody pass him some tissues(!!) grow up man(!!)

And De Jong - classic quote (!)

"There were a few curious decisions in the game, but that is football," De Jong said.

How true, just how did you stay on the park(?).

Ta Ta Lance (TDF).................me thinks something's not right(!?!).......will we ever find out(?)

Friday July 9, 2010 13:18:

Team work at its best(!)

1 - Carles Puyol (Spain) *

2 - Mark Renshaw (HTC) **

* Spain's man of the match v Germany (world cup semi final) he was everywhere and did everything, throwing himself at everything

** TDF cyclist who did an amazing job to get Mark Cavandish his first (1st) stage win on Thursday.

Take note one and all.........................................

Thursday July 8, 2010 21:41:

medial mensicus tear

Its looks like my running program is over before its really begun. My 'medial meniscus' (image left) has 'blown up' which in effect means total rest for seven (7) days and if thats not successful then an MRI is required with the most probable option 'keyhole work'.

Bugger.........................

Tuesday July 6, 2010 19:56:

At last a bike race that'll test them all (!!) TDF 2010 Rules

Thursday June 24, 2010 19:49:

'Twitterings on'.....here......France is warm again (unlike the footy team!)

Monday June 21, 2010 22:27:

Just about finished the Mt Blanc report. Getting ready for Italy (27th).

Watching the footy, wonderfully overpaid aren't our footballers.

Friday June 4, 2010 15:49:

Well back to a bit of 'twittering' again (albeit slightly behind time)........

Image 241

Left Jersey - Thursday morning - to St Malo on board the new ferry.

Which broke down! Nothing new there then!

Arrived 1.15hr late, never mind plenty of time to travel down.

7.15hr on the TomTom to Lyon.

Bloody hell its hot (29c) outside. Air Con in the van? Only if you open the window!

Trying to stick to 70mph in order to work out what time I need to leave on monday morning (have to catch the nite boat back for work on Tuesday morning).

Thats it 'Al Fresco' in the van. If you watched James May in the Top Gear program where he was driving an Aston DB9 race car then you'll get the picture!

2 stops (fuel/coffee/food) and 9hrs (yes 9hrs) later I arrive @ the Ibis in Bonn.

No real problems, straight in really. Resturant still open (till 2230hrs).

Fish Burger and 2 Stella's 1 coffee and bed.

Sort out race details tomorrow.

Friday 04.06.10

0830 breakfast (buffet style) very nice and just what the doctor ordered.

0930 start to find Saint Priest.

1000 still looking. 3 address's which have nothing to do with the race visited.

Text TW to see if he has any further info.

Another one found (bloody french) look for that later after walkabout, shop and food.

1300 found the starting point for tomorrows race. Ghost town and no one there knows anything (nothing new there then!)

Will leave it all tilll tomorrow......

Found Parc de Parilly.......walkabout for a couple of hours, then the french open tennis till TW arrives.

Parc de Parilly

1800 TW arrives.......meet and greet.......drink on the patio, then freshern up and dinner to discuss the weekends 'little ride'....tactics tactics!

Saturday May 29, 2010 20:23:

All back home now. Pleasant flight back, full but nice.

Overall work done, reason for going sorted.

Spent Friday in Soller (after spinout in the morning) lovely place to chill, sun out or in. Great area.

Now sort the gear out for thursday(!).

Thursday May 27, 2010 14:45:

Twittering just about finished.

The com's problem is not just here. Reading an article in local 'rag' about the lack of wireless internet and its unrealiability. Something for the Majorcan's to work on me thinks (and me for future trips).

Anyway rest day today. Cloudy weather :( .......Mean't to be the same tomorrow therefore early spinout (0730) for 1 hr and then b/fast and off to Soller for day :).

Wednesday May 26, 2010 17:00:

Still got com's problems :(

Did mountains again today. Had bad moment on Puig, but got over it.

32c on Puig. Hotter than last week.

1 spinout ride to go (maybe friday morning).

If not totals are as follows --

10 rides / 2490 mins (41:29:33) / 1029.75k / 41114 Kcals.

Chill tomorrow (Soller me thinks...lovely Soller).

Tuesday May 25, 2010 11:19:

Belated twitering.......spanish internet problems, today tomorrow, maybe....ok(!)

Anyway coming to the end, had bad day yeaterday in saddle, up Sa Colobra, very hard, hurt back.

Lluc today...easy route....mountains tomorrow, final test.

Rest day (hopefully thursday)...............getting bloody hot here(!)

Saturday May 22, 2010 20:56:

A boring Champion's League Final? I don't think so. The TV pundits are 'on the ball again' (not!!).

50k couple of hours done.

Rule one (1) don't change a tub without the correct equipment (doh!) and there's me thinking it'll just take a minute (bugger)..

All done though (I hope!)

Four (4) days of hard work coming up (concentration..concentration)

Saturday May 22, 2010 7:18:

Spin out today, couple of hours here and there.

2nd book.....Ian McGeechan (sorry 'SIR') Lion Man. Should be good.

Spending hangover today.......doh!

Friday May 21, 2010 21:53:

Finished Agassi's book..............could have written that on 2 A4 pages....

....Hated tennis

....Played tennis

....Took drugs

....Lied about above (opp's)

....Won matches (several, not argueing there)

....Got married (wrongly)

....Played tennis (more)

....Got divorced

....Got re-married

....Formed School

....End of.......................................................

Friday May 21, 2010 11:09:

Todays main aim(?) Finish the Agassi book....

(been shopping!)

Friday May 21, 2010 7:02:

This Floyd Landis 'thing' (now there's a man with a grudge!) makes me think of profession footballers (worldwide) who think they can 'cheat' or gain an advantage by protesting their innocence, when you have a million and one cameras around the pitch. You know you can't get away with it, so why try?

And he (FL) has not spent his own money, its donations from other people (whilst he stated he was drug free and never taken any form of drugs!)

I suppose he'll now disappear back to his home town and become a devoted Mennonites 'family'

When will professional cyclist learn(?) Well I suppose not until they are caught(?) And to the people that say cycling is a 'drug sport'....@ least their system is catching people(!!) and they are looking.

Rest day for me.....

Thursday May 20, 2010 18:21:

Interesting day (?)....

146k / 6hr 09min / 6037Kcal.....6 gels/2 bars/3 water bottles.....

Puig Major, a right bas***d of a hill, just keeps going.

The rest of the ride was Ok (if boring at some stages) not one other rider going my way(!!).

Trying to recover now, rest day friday (shopping!!)

Laters................

FYI...what's FL going on about now(?) now thats one seriously deranged person(!)

Thursday May 20, 2010 7:03:

Do or die day today.

Mountains for 150k.....1st workout for Lyon/Mt Blanc.

If no can make this one, then Lyon's going to be a long weekend!

Quiet day yesterday, no 'tweats'

Laters................................

Tuesday May 18, 2010 22:33:

People are using the gym (my gym!) the boss makes an appearance, seems happy.

Looks like mountains on Thursday (cloudy'ish day) good call, take time no rush.

Tuesday May 18, 2010 12:09:

Couple of short sharp climbs this a.m.

Looking @ doing the mountains ride tomorrow (maybe thursday, cloudy then, not sure) make decision tonite.

Another nice day (bit like home really)

Monday May 17, 2010 21:53:

Chapters 1 - 6 done (Agassi's the Open)................

Monday May 17, 2010 11:42:

Weathers on the up, 23 today (just my age).

Lluc on the reverse and then onto the 'shack' @ La Calobra.

Used the club's gym last nite (flexablity stuff) and its all new gear in there now, very nice :)

Mined you ever since I've been coming here (10yrs) the gears been a little 'questionable' shall we say.

Sunday May 16, 2010 14:39:

Tweat 2.............no joy on seat post pin. Had to wait and go down to Pollentia town to Pro Cycling. Borrowed an old fashioned clip. Fitted and worked, so off we go.

1000hrs start, Club to San Salvador (nasty little climb, 4.4k @ 6.4%) 130k 4.45hrs.

No sunshine :( .......hence this 'tweat'......

Saturday May 15, 2010 21:13:

Back breaking time has arrived. 12 rides around the Majorcan countryside (and hills!). Main aim is of course hill work (back permitting) with a view to Lyon/Mt Blanc.

So semi 'twitter time' has begun.............

Travelled from Jersey to Palma with Palmair. On time (both areas) no fuss, in flight food (??) when was that last served(?) without paying the earth for (footnote......Manx2 flight was delayed for over 3 hours, they were offered a 'meal ticket' to the value of £3.50!!......so thats a small soda and a bag of peanuts then!)

No bike charge (extra or normal) and it weighed 'a lot' trust me(!). All arrived safely in Palma (no damage, apart from me breaking the seat pin...doh!!!).

Hire car sorted. 31 mins to the 'Club' (used to be 65min when I first started coming here).

Feed and watered and ready for the shop to open tomorrow for a new seat pin (hopefully) and the 1st ride to San Salvador.

Monday May 3, 2010 15:38:

Been a while since 'me last post'(?). To be honest nothing has really changed. Whether personally or Island based.

Race wise (cycling) I've got a training camp in Majorca (May) for 2 weeks (mountain work) and then the Lyon-Mt Blanc-Lyon sportive (450k in 2 days - June) finishing off in Italy (end of June) for the Marco Pantini (175k). I've made the decision to do these things because I'm 'too far down the road' to stop and do something else. So 'make or break' really.

After those I give up cycling for 6 months ('ish) and return to running (now this, hopefully, doesn't affect the back). Its the only thing I haven't done (rest the back totally).

Island based(?) Well still as stupid as normal. How to make a mess of a lovely Island (employ our CS and Ministers)

Wednesday March 24, 2010 19:13

No posts, no point .................

Friday February 5, 2010 21:33:

Well still trying to 'manage' my situation.

Now gone back to square one (1). Unfortunatly the 'pain' is still there, so hence back to the beginning.

In order:

Iliotibial band and thigh muscles involved in runners knee or iliotibial band friction syndrome

On the above, received information from another biker who had similar 'sounding' problem(s). He went 'down the road' of the IT Band and a sports massage which after a couple of sessions, helped him no end(!)

Here's hoping.........

Tuesday February 2, 2010 20:03:

Well I'm 'buggered' if I know(!!). Not knowing or reading the full report (as of yet), it does seems a little strange(?) the comments that are being made.

No one to blame, apart from the Dr who undertook the surgery(?) but who has been cleared by a court, so therefore is in the clear, and then the Dr (who WAS in charge) has no blame attached, but who should have been 'in the room' and now has been cleared and told he can return to work(??!!??).

And a department who doesn't check up on 'locums' and has no 'real management'(??) NOW THATS A FRIGHTENING THOUGHT(!)

No cover up there then. A report which 'blames everyone but no one' and finds in favour of Government, more that in favour of the general public.

Should be quite interesting what Sen Syvret will make of it. After all he did speak out against 'Verita'. Seems he might be 'right' again(!) start your engines Ministers(!)

Sunday January 31, 2010 20:00:

I see the Tourism Board (or whatever they are called now) have 'scored' another success...not(!)

Their latest advert - as seen in the Sunday's - once again states being close to Europe without the Euro (well something right...for now!) but also highlights the Island best attraction - The Durell Wildlife Conservation Trust - which I can't disagree with (on a personal note), but if that's Jersey's best 'offer' then we are in trouble. Only last week the Trust had to 'lay off' 10 staff.........can you see what I mean(?)

Wonder how much these people are paid to make these adverts(?)...............

Sunday January 31, 2010 12:16:

......So it now seems that my season is over before its begins. Went out on bike this morning and lasted all of 60mins before the 'back kicked in'.

I've really no idea now (albeit I have a 'last chance' physio on thursday) as to what the problem is. I've looked @ everything and drawn a blank, its not as if I even know how its happen(?) if I know then I can treat(!!)

On a footnote this morning didn't start to well anyway.....botton bracket broke/back wheel hub damaged.....and just for good measure it hailed(!!).....think I'm getting the idea(!!)

So my recovery week is no biking for 6 days......................and seek more medical advice.

Saturday January 30, 2010 19:29:

How does Mat's Wilander (Eurosport's Tennis commentator) get away with it?

Not content with saying that Justin Henin was not 'professional' enough a couple of years ago, after she had to retire with heat exhaustion (48hrs in hospital!!) he then suggested that in this years quarter-final - between Novak Djokovic and Jo-Wilfried Tsonga - Djokovic 'through' his match because of 'an injury'. He really is in for a 'big fall' one day.

But on a happier note (albeit beaten) congrat's to Laura Robson on reaching the final again, one day, one day......

Friday January 29, 2010 19:05:

'Busy doing nothing!'.........time flies when your having fun

Anyway busy dodging the rain then sunshine then wind then warm then cold......

.....so the report into the hospital death is going to be released.....after the AG has had a look................no cover up there then

Wednesday January 13, 2010 20:19:

Well I've always thought that I might 'move into politics' and judging by my 'purchasing talent' (see previous entry regarding buying warm gear) and the sudden rise in temperature - + 8c and bright sunshine !! - I'd say its a done deal! DOH!!

But what a beautiful day, sunshine after the rain (and sleet) 4hrs on the bike climbing all over the place.

Oh and by the way, tried one of those Tacx Flow turbo sessions yesterday (speed 1) mighty fine bit of turbo training, big sweat for 60mins. Looking @ doing all of my speed sessions on the turbo.

Monday January 11, 2010 14:09:

And the roads are clear. Albeit a little chilly (using 'Craft Cool Max' under garments, very good, loose fitting woollen type, less intrusive!) but we are out and about again :)

Craft Active Wool Zip Mock Neck Craft Pro Zero Extreme T Shirt Craft Pro Cool Run Sock Unisex

Sunday January 10, 2010 21:05:

Bored with your turbo training? Check out these Tacx Flow sessions - here - something to get your teeth into, something different, many choices......enjoy :)

Sunday January 10, 2010 15:27:

And just like that its gone!

'Massive' rise in temperature and 'the big melt is on'...................

Saturday January 9, 2010 16:10:

Snow update.........the red bits snow :)........the yellow square is us..........moving downwards now..........

Friday January 8, 2010 13:06:

With the forecasted weather conditions it looks like a week of 'training condition management'.

Which in short means no 'risks taken'. Therefore indoor cycling (turbo) and more core/weight work.

Far better to wait for a week than take a risk and end up injured and out for a couple of months with something 'busted'.

Friday January 8, 2010 7:51:

'Don't use our car walk!'........good sensible advice(?), uummm Ok then why grit the roads and not the 'walkways'?. Queens Rd, clear as a bell on the road, the pavement?.......like skating on ice(!!).

Tuesday January 5, 2010 21:00:

More management of training. Snow this a.m (albeit light) with a light frost, made early decision not to bike (clean obea and put away in store and use training bike now) therefore X-Train instead.

Had to pick up new surround sound system from the Airport Cargo center, so x-train @ Les Quennevais SC (boy that's a 'packed' gym now, no room to train!!!! not good ....)

Stand by for the schools to be shut tomorrow(!!) heavan help us(!!) one snow flake and the Island grinds to a halt(!).

Monday January 4, 2010 13:31:

As mentioned below, this morning was Management of the weather! Albeit dry with the odd icey patch, it was still cold (-3 chill factor). Hence do the training and 'come in'. Don't dilly dally around doing extra because the sun's out! Its still cold!

On that 'Management theme' here's a couple of excellent links (from Tony W of Flamme Rouge) regarding Health and Training Camps. Please read from the voice of experience and knowledge!

Sunday January 3, 2010 13:30:

Management of:

Training - Weather - Gym Work - Rest Periods - Injury(s) - Discipline - Food Intake

All the above line form a very important part of training! No particular order as all of them are important!

Saturday January 2, 2010 20:01:

New Year's been and gone :) and now down to training. As of tomorrow we (I) start in ernest.

Thursday December 31, 2009 8:02:

One of the best deserved honors in this years 'New Years List' goes to - Knighthood, Ian McGeechan - rugby union, for services to sport - he has devoted 40yrs of his life to rugby and he still enjoys it! Congrats to Ian and his Family.

Ian McGeechan

Locally, congrat's to Jim Caulfield MBE for his work in Kenya. I've known Jim through sport for a number of years and it is a well deserved award.

I see the football managers merry go round has started. Same old faces just going from club to club picking up 'large amounts of cash' for doing nothing! Is there no 'new faces' out there? (Its like being a states minister really!! all failures and still working).

Friday December 25, 2009 20:17:

Right that's Chrimbo over! 3.30hrs on the bike this morning (88k) ready for another 3 days in the saddle (hopefully).

Menu du Jour:

Italian Pasta Broth Soup followed by a basket of Fruit de Mer with a soft red - 2005 Louis Bernard Cote du Rhone-Village - Fruit salad with Coffee and cheese.

Louis Bernard Cotes du Rhone Villages 2005

Television? As normal nothing on...........well apart from a brilliant series on 'Wild Russia' shown on National Geographic TV. Started @ 1700hrs and went through till 2300hrs. That was my TV :)

Roll on Easter!

Sunday December 20, 2009 19:44:

Well that was a 'bug' ..............'how to lose 5kgs in 24hrs'......I suppose on the plus side it takes care of the 'winter layer' ...................

Tuesday December 8, 2009 20:48:

Couple of things for the 'Told you so' bank.

The first one being the re-vamped cycle track along the @ St Aubins. Now is it me or is it exactly the same as before? Concrete ripped up and concrete put down? You might as well just filled in the holes? (Yes I know don't say anything until the finished article! but really).

Secondly 'Road markings and Road safety'.

Somebody has (twice) placed 'white line markings' on road corners. @ Petit Port on the bend (a Bus Stop marking) with a 'hole cover' just by the side for good measure and @ great cost no doubt @ Charing Cross (St Aubins) a pedestrian crossing.

The reason for mentioning these? Well as any Cyclist (pedal or power) will tell you that when wet 'white paint markings' are lethal!! And why on a bend for a pedestrian crossing? (it must be me!)

Saturday December 5, 2009 8:58:

Talking about winter training/work, Shelley's been @ it again. Shelley Rudman that is, the lady who disappears down a mountain side on a tin tray!

Shelley's well on her way to 'peaking' just in time for the Vancouver 2010 Winter Olympics.

Her standings (World Cup) after 3 events puts her in 1st Place on 627pts just two(2)pts ahead of Canadian Mellissa Hollingsworth.

Shelley Rudman - 2010 Winter Olympics hopeful

Saturday November 28, 2009 9:15:

So a couple of questions need to be asked:

1. How much did this report into Sen. S. Syvret cost?

2. The move to change the Data Protection Law then removes the 'ability to whistleblow' from the Island then? Thought that was a States 'accepted/suggested' thing?

We all know the latter is an attempt to find out (silence) who has been 'feeding' SS with information. No States intervention there then! But unfortunatley (unless Jersey knows different) the Internet is an UNREGULATED 'service'. No where in the world (apart from Asian areas I suppose) can you stop guys posting.

SUCK IT UP! AND SORT IT OUT!

Only one (1) thing is correct - somebody is right and somebody is wrong! - if you have nothing to hide then why hide? (incidently the report stated that the States of Jersey should have ignored SS's comment and let them go away! thats a good way of sorting things out! HOW MUCH FOR THAT?).

Friday November 27, 2009 8:02:

Breaking news from Spain regardings 'doping' (widespread within Spain) and a group that has been 'arrested'. Article here .

For some reason it appears on a cycling section of the website, although no names/sports have been mentioned. I shall dig deeper (unlike our JEP!)

Spanish Doping Ring smashed

PS.....just as a footnote, this is a 'goodie' - read more here - not a good day in the office really if I'm honest!

Little bit more on the above -

'Spanish newspaper El Pais has reported that 11 people have been arrested by the Guardia Civil in connection with a new doping network. The arrests included former Kelme team doctor Walter Viru, who owns a pharmacy in Montserrat (Valencia).  Viru is a former colleague of doctor Eufemiano Fuentes, the central figure in the Operación Puerto scandal.

The operation involved collaboration between Spanish and French authorities.

Searches were carried out in several locations that included clinics, pharmacies and homes, most notably the residence of Spanish race walker Francisco Javier Fernandez and Viru. Fernadez won the silver medal in the 2004 Olympics and two European Championships (2002,2005).

Authorities reportedly found EPO and growth hormones in Barcelona, Granada, Murcia and Valencia, and seized medical records of dozens of athletes.

This latest development highlights the efforts being made between the different authorities to combat doping in sport'.

Tuesday November 24, 2009 19:06:

Sad news from Ecuador. A cyclist John Lyon who was taking part in the charity ride in aid of cancer was killed in an accident with a small lorry.

John was a keen sportsman who had many friends throughout the island and beyond. I knew John (albeit not that well) from cycling and running and my thoughts are with his family and the other cyclists who were taking part in the 'event' and who are now faced with a 'long journey home'.

John Lyon

Wednesday November 18, 2009 17:31:

So we now have (I believe) a Pictorial Licence and Word/Statement Licence (!!). The problem? The Liberty Wharf on the Waterfront.

Pictorial Licence =

Anybody spot the 'problem(s)'?

The Word/Statement Licence =

1. 'The covered shopping centre will link the Waterfront area to the town centre'

And just how is that going to happen(?). Ah of course(!) a zebra crossing(!) which of course is already there(!)..............

and.......

2. "We have identified what I think will be a very good line up of tenants."

Anybody know what that means(?) No tenant(s) yet but we will 'do a deal mate' to get people in...maybe(?).....

Tuesday November 17, 2009 21:24:

Out sourcing doesn't work (!) So that's what Jersey Water's doing (and what Jersey Milk did).

Just how does that save money(?) its false economy, you still have to pay, don't you(?)

Tuesday November 17, 2009 21:10:

Race run (report on page) running season over :)

Interesting to note, Jersey Water to 'lay guys off', the man in charge? Kevin Keen, the man that couldn't run Jersey Milk(!) he's good isn't he (not!). And you know what he's the one shouting all the odds on how the Ministers should do things(!) God help us(!)

Thursday November 12, 2009 21:35:

Ok all sorted on the mobile/landline subject. Bit of 'left hand right hand' problems, but as stated they sorted it out (quickly).

Weathers still not looking to good for Sunday :(

Tuesday November 10, 2009 20:47:

After the Lord Mayors show(!) wind and rain :(

And my thoughts on Airtel Vodafone might have been a little 'premature'. Slight 'technicalities' shall we say (24hrs grace called for).

Big winds predicted for Sundays race (maybe some rain aswell).

Monday November 9, 2009 18:42:

What a beautiful day(!) set in between heavy rain and wind(!) work that one out.

So after training went for a walk - Noirmont to St Brelades - hot chocolate(with marshmellows!) and benofee pie(yum yum) @ the Wayside Cafe.

It really is a beautiful island (until our ministers get/got involved!).

Monday November 2, 2009 17:04:

Thought as much, message from the JEP:

'Dear Mr Davy,

I write in reply to your e-mail of 1 November, commenting on the JEP editorial of 30 October.

If you would care to revise it, using more conventional grammar and responding to what the editorial actually said, as distinct from what you appear to have misread, I will be happy to consider it for publication.

Chris Bright
Editor

Corinne Wiseman
Editor’s PA '

Funny that(?).............might be the 'Government' getting angry then(!). Unfortunately the bottom line is that someone 'slightly backs' Sen Syvret and therefore nothing gets printed(!).

Monday November 2, 2009 7:33:

So a 'panel' tell us (again) that the closure of Fort Regent swimming pool was wrong.

And we can do what about it(?) plus it doesn't say that the Fort Regent Swimming Pool had to close after the deal was struck regarding the (WEB based therefore states involvement!) Waterfront Swimming pool.

Lack of numbers(?) yes if you don't invest and run the thing right then what do you expect(?) Not a good venue for a conference center(?) again yes we know (access bad etc).

MAKE THE FORT A SPORTS CENTRE OF EXCELLENCE (someone already thinks it is?) make use of your outside areas (cover them, east ditch etc) and re-build a purpose built Conference Center (incorporating entertainment, shows etc). If we have such great 'interest' from institutions then a sponsor would not be 'hard' to find.

How many times do the staff at FR have to 'build/remove/build/remove' chairs and stages in the Queens Hall and surrounding areas(?).

Re-development (demolish) has been 'suggested' and 'upgrade' the Fort ramparts.

IF SOMEONE BUILDS FLATS/HOUSES/HOTEL ON THAT SITE THEN THEY SHOULD HANG THEIR HEAD IN SHAME!

Someone to BANG THE DRUM?...........GOD HELP US(!!)............lets play 'Spot the non sporting Ministers'......or.....'Spot the Ministers who haven't got a clue'

Sunday November 1, 2009 17:18:

Got p***ed off with Editorial in JEP, so therefore wrote reply. Not sure if it'll get published so full content is below:

''Response to your editorial (dated 30.10.2009)

Title - désorienté.com

Dear Editor,

Not sure if its to 'stir' a response amongst your readers, but I would like to make some observations on your text.

You state that everyone is 'embarrassed' by a Senators actions. You are entitled to your own opinion of course, but please don't speak for everyone(!) if its embarrassing for you then say it is for yourself.

Attention seeking is really done by someone who has no 'substance' to the reasons as to why they are attention seeking.

I believe (looking from the outside in) that the reasons behind the Senators action have 'been forgotten' (as noted in previous letters and comments). He still is representing his constituents (First elected to the States on 13th December 1990 as Deputy of St Helier No.3. Elected as Senator in 1993 and re-elected in 1999 and 2005) hence the situation he is in now.

He can't be held responsible for an 'Open Cheque book saga' running in to millions (20 at last count) of taxpayers money (to which as of this date no one has been held responsible for allowing this to happen). Not even the still suspended Police Chief (a situation which is still confusing to the uneducated like myself!). Meetings which take place, don't take place(?) Senior Civil Servants not 'telling the truth' and you mention 'earning wages'.........uummm(?)

He can still claim his 'wages' as he is trying (so far as I can see, unless otherwise directed) to represent his constituents (for which he was first elected to do so) which represents 'working'. Maybe a level playing field on 'earning your wages' might be leveled on elected members who have been 'removed' from their position within the States Governmental machinery for comments made during States sitting (remind me what he does now to earn his 'wages'?).

Millions (10 at last count) wasted on Incinerator cost's (bringing things into prospectus now - £30m against £43k so far !) and again Ministers playing 'pass the parcel (or buck)'. But the 'removal' of Ministers is still a big no no, as no accountability is 'available' (until of course (re-)election day).

Unfortunately as a government run newspaper you views are somewhat slanted and one sided.

Personally I think now this situation has 'run its course' and needs to be sorted (for better or worse).

I would call for a full independent inquiry, but I fear this could not happen (how do you get total independent persons on an Island?) as the finding 'may' find the Senator to be correct in many of his 'actions'.

Will we ever find out(?) No not really and that's disappointing for all concerned, you see to have a 'full and frank' inquiry all 'doors' must be open, and all questions asked and answered(!). Which does beg the question 'If no one has anything to hide why not do this?' Its hardly a security risk, an embarrassing one maybe(?).

But hey when you use people (who are in their last employment year{s}) from the 'outside' who are now retired (unaccountable) just what do we (you) expect.

The machinery of 'Open Government' will no doubt 'cough and splutter' into 2010.

Kind Regards
Richard Davy''

Hope you enjoy..................................

Oh and welcome to November ...........

Friday October 23, 2009 19:19:

Ok so I've got another 'problem'........A big 'rumble' about Tax Evasion(?) within Hong Kong and an 'Investigation' will take place.

So its alright (whilst the Investigation takes place of course) to open an Office in Hong Kong (States Run!!) to promote our Finance.

Somebody please SHOOT ME (!!).................not before I finish my wine (!!).

Thursday October 22, 2009 20:30:

I must make an 'unreserved apology' to 'Portelet Bay' as I see the development of the 'building site' has won a 'top award' for design.

I stand corrected. Although I'm not sure how you can win an 'award' for a 'completed building' before its built(?). Amazing how things work isn't it, one minute its the beach and the next its the 'building site' (sorry development!).

Sunday October 18, 2009 16:32:

Well ran the 'Durell Dash'. Report on the relevant page.

PORTELET BAY IN THE TOP TEN (10) OF THE WORLDS BEACH'S (WTF??)

How on earth does that happen(?) a building site and a empty shack on the beach(?)

Amazing that the person that voted for the beach has a full section on Jersey in his website. Strange that isn't it(?) I wonder how much we paid for that bit of 'advertising'(?) more to the point any 'poor sod' who comes over to view our 'wonderful beach' is going to be in for a 'beautiful surprise'.

Saturday October 17, 2009 14:14:

The UK Anti-Doping starts in ernest this December (14th). Named the UKAD it might send 'shivers' down certain peoples backs(!).

Personally the 'Durell Dash' is off the 'market' for me. Picked up a 'sore calf' on Friday. Right decision(?) with the 'main aim' the Half in November(15th) we shall see in the morning.

Wednesday October 14, 2009 19:00:

Now I know that I'm not the most intelligent person in the World (or Jersey for that matter) in fact I'm a bit of a 'prat' but on reading tonights 'Rag' I see that the Finance Industry can now register with Hong Kong.

After a certain BBC program which highlighted the fact of Tax Evasion, I believe the Ministers of Jersey 'slated' this program as 'untrue'.

Now is it me or (???????)...................................

Yet another lie from our Ministers (!!!)

Well I always believed that we were 'Our own People' and that we had our 'Own Government'. Now we are going to pay for 'bowing' to others jurisdictions (!!).

**And just as a footnote......

'Just how much is the pay offs for our Senior Civil Servants going to cost us the Taxpayer(??)'

Amazing what you can get for being Useless (!!).

Thursday October 8, 2009 19:17:

What a load of 'dribble'. Signs that show the way 'back to the Royal Square'(?). I can't wait till tomorrow (me go walkabout and check the other signs!).

Wednesday October 7, 2009 19:08:

Well that didn't last long did it (!)

A long line in the sand and..........support from the Planning Chief........and 24hrs later...........we'll continue to build(!) Whata waste of time(!).

Don't get me wrong, I'm viciously against the majority of the building that have appeared in Jersey, but you will never beat 'the system'. The system equally's UNACCOUNTABLE Ministers who are open to 'all types of conversation'.

Nice effort but until you have the 'correct system' in place you might as well just fart against thunder(!!) .....

Wednesday October 7, 2009 7:49:

MY PET HATE DURING THE RAINY SEASON(??). People walking with bloody golfing umbrellas through town(!!!!) Use them on the golf course(!!) not in town (!)

Also TEXTING on the phone whilst walking, paying no attention as to who's in front of you(!!!). Not being sexist but the majority are women. My walk to Fort Regent is 'entertaining' and now I'm now going to move(!!)...........

Wrong Type(!!!!)

Wrong Umbrella

Correct type(!!)

Correct Umbrella

Tuesday October 6, 2009 16:56:

Some very 'powerful' stuff is being written in various areas. Its still regarding HDG and the 'knock on' effects of some VERY POOR MANAGEMENT and POOR GOVERNMENT.

The link above (Sen S. Syvret's blog) is the 'main player'. The article written in the 'Mail on Sunday' (04.10.09 and Saturdays Daily Mail 03.10.09) is very poor and is just attempting to discredit certain people. It contained NO evidence and was written by someone else that the named person(!).

Unfortunately I see no end to this just yet (I predict that it'll just melt into the sunset and the real people involved will never be 'hanged').

Ombudsman in the Island(?) Independent(?) in the Island(?)....dream on....interesting to see who voted against this idea(!!). The usual 'suspects'...the 'Ministers of Millionaires'(!).

Tuesday September 29, 2009 12:20:

So reading between the lines - 5.1% drop in electricity prices - the JEC couldn't justify the 'massive hike' in prices rises then(?).

Interestingly noting that they put it down to the LOW OIL PRICES(!!). And the price of petrol is(??).....uuuummmmm........

Monday September 28, 2009 16:01:

Relay race over - 6th overall/3rd male team :) - personal run of 45.50 for 11.2k.

Can't really comment on a Minister who pushed the 'wrong' button. Nice way to go back on one's word(!).

Wednesday September 23, 2009 20:45:

........nothing wrong here. The BBC is all wrong(!)........seconds out(!)................

Tuesday September 22, 2009 11:52:

The 'old banking one two' saga didn't really help the island did it (?).

It reminded me of an episode from 'Yes Prime Minister' a number of years ago. Episode 4 'YPM' titled 'A Conflict of Interest' with the great line(s) of :

'Well if its a little wrong we'll have the chap up for a spot of lunch'...... 'can't have a chap who the chap's can't trust!'

Yes Prime Minister

Monday September 21, 2009 17:22:

I'm sorry but this just doesn't add up - link - I mean he's injured running on one (1) leg and he posts that time (?).

Just what have they found (drug).

Monday September 21, 2009 7:31:

Whoops ................well at least we've signed an agreement with the UK to be transparent.

Whats that all about(?)......read this link.......The oh so clean Jersey(!)

Tuesday September 15, 2009 18:21:

Catch up post time...........

Flymaybe (sorry Flybe) blame the Airport for the 'lengthy' queues outside the building, stating that the 'new build' is to blame (lack of space)....BUT hasn't the 'lack of space' been 'all of the time' the 'new build' has been being built(?)....or is that me(?).

Ran 41.58 10k on Sunday :) (next stop relay team Jersey Marathon...extra race).

Strange that Mr Gradwell (HDG saga) has retired from 'all' of the forces. So now he's gone off into the distance sunset (unaccountable). £20m...plop(!)

Sunday September 6, 2009 20:54:

Lenny Harper's comments are - here

I've read through quickly and found it confusing with no substance just hearsay(?). If anything 'real' is to come out of this 'saga' then a 'correct' enquiry should be held. That also means by someone completly neutral (not much hope there then!)

Friday September 4, 2009 21:22:

And the 'spin' starts..............The Cayman Islands are 'in trouble'.....according to our Treasury Minister.

Tourism down(?) Tax problems(?) Large bills(?)........'pot kettle black' me thinks(!)..

You can read the full 'correct report' - here - after all how else is he going to get the Harcourt deal through(?).

Lenny Harper is going to respond to all 'the comings and goings'.....should be interesting(!)......link to follow.......

Wednesday September 2, 2009 15:36:

Just what are they (the police) saying about the HDG(?).

'Planted evidence?'....'Unsafe convictions?'...........

Or are we just making sure the suspended Chief Officer is 'tarred' with even more 'evidence' (unfounded).

Shame he (GP) can't respond (under suspension). Makes him an easy target really. Have we got another man after a 'book deal'(?).

Tourism down (?).......not quite the headline from a couple of months ago(!).......wake up Jersey, wake up(!)......

Oh not forgetting its 04th September soon(!).....Harcourt contract time (notice how quiet thats gone!).

Can't wait for that to be signed off (for Harcourt of course) and the 'comments' from our Treasury Minister.

Sunday August 30, 2009 18:28:

Ran the 'Jayson Lee 10k' this a.m. Over 300 runners (a great turnout in memory of Jayson). Aimed for 46min, ended up running with John C, therefore missed 46 but hit 44min. Never mind benchmark made. Sept 13th next 10k then Oct 18th. Must be careful not too go too 'mad'...............

Incidentally its nice to know that 'all politics/politicians' seemed to act the same(?)

Jersey points the finger at everyone and 'passes the parcel' and never 'charges' anyone, and the Worlds politicians do the same(?)

Where and when(?) The Lockerbie incident of course. The 'yanks' started it (Ms Rice went to talk to Gaddafi) then Blair then a Socilite.

Its all got too do with OIL. Why do they say not(?). The 'Yanks' have made a mess of the War (sorry Police action) spent billions (bankcrupted every country that is involved) and need resources(!)

It was once said (not so long ago) that the only way you 'beat' terrorists is to negotiate with them..........sound familiar (how long before that happens with BL?)

Saturday August 29, 2009 17:36:

You (I) shouldn't really but.......you do begin to think twice when.....

You arrange (and paid for) your Wedding, but.....

1. The travel company goes bust

2. The Reception hotel closes down......

3. The bridal shop shuts due to the recession........

surely that's it (?)...............

4. You've booked a 'live show' prior to travelling on the honeymoon.........to see (?)....Michael Jackson (!!!)..........

Well at least it seem's that you've got all the problems out of the way (!)

Saturday August 29, 2009 11:34:

Tour of Spain starts today. Last 'big one' of the year.

Friday August 28, 2009 7:50:

No comment needed really:

'SHOPS at the former abattoir site are not being leased because the rent is ‘significant’, it has been claimed at a Scrutiny hearing...

Thursday August 20, 2009 7:39:

Now even with my eyes (which are not the best!) me thinks something isn't quite 'right' with the SA 'female' runner in the 800m.

Even 'bigger' rummours surrounding the 100m's................................

Wednesday August 19, 2009 20:45:

Its begining to 'smell'....Jamaican breaking news.....why 'pull' your athletes if you've done nothing wrong(?).

A 'new' drug on the scene(?)

I make no apology for my reporting(!)

Monday August 17, 2009 7:55:

Jess Ennis.......just what do you say?......stunning performance and well deserved. Now just keep injury free please (oh and enjoy the moment )......

Saturday August 15, 2009 22:17:

Sorry I just don't believe the Jamaican's :(

Go on Jess !!!............if anyone deserves luck its you :)..............you can do it!

Thursday August 13, 2009 9:56:

Now thats a good one - Jamaican U Turn - you miss those sessions for a reason (!!).

Looks like another drugs related issue for our 'sqeaky clean' Jamaicans(!).

Friday August 7, 2009 1:42:

Why hide behind the truth(?) It is cheaper on the Internet and yes you can buy 'items' with the correct warrenty. I think you might find that the car industry are pulling a fast one (!!!!!). A worldwide warrenty is a worldwide warrenty(!!) which ever way you look at it........I smell a rat(!!!).

Saturday August 1, 2009 13:47:

Not nice to learn about the passing of Sir Bobby Robson. Truly a great man who will be sorely missed.

Wednesday July 29, 2009 20:22:

And now they start 'moaning' about the swim suits in Rome(?). Why not earlier(?).

Monday July 27, 2009 8:10:

Interesting comments from States member Alan Breckon regarding Child Protection and Health and Social Services. Watch this space (or that space really). Things not upto standard and top heavy management(?).....my my somebody has been saying that for a while....can you guess who(?).

Sunday July 26, 2009 18:39:

An interesting comment from the 'World Swimming Championships' in Rome.

One swimmer states that the 'majority' of swimmers are against the new hi-tec swim suits(?). No representation of swimmers @ FINA organisation level(?).

Which then begs the question 'Why wear them then?'

The obvious answer is sponsorship pressure (personal and event wise).

But then why don't the swimmers all stick together(?) After all the Hi-Tec suits are to be banned from 2010.

Just say no! After all you can't hold an event without competitors....can you(?).

What a farce!

Saturday July 25, 2009 15:44:

Jamaican 'stars' fail drugs test...(FYI its a masking agent thats been found).....

Whoop's I wonder who they are??.........read more here

Thursday July 23, 2009 7:42:

Di Luca used 'Cera' (allegedly) and is now banned (provisionally). More problems for the Italians.

But hang on why are they banning everyone else? Valverde hasn't even been found 'guilty and has no prove against him'.............pot kettle black springs to mind here (lets move the guilt to someone else shall we!!)

No room to appeal on the Cav incident? WHY?......

Sunday July 19, 2009 7:26:

Cavandish d/q'ed and moved to the back(?).......appeal time me thinks(!)......looked @ the finish, he did look the wrong way but didn't take his line. The finishing straight wasn't 'straight'.

Now then remind me.

The markets crashed, the property market crashed...yes(?)...so what will Jersey do(?), invest everything in those (and more) markets. All your eggs in one basket again(?).

Question:

'If we have so much spare cash, why don't we re-build the WEB Waterfront and make the money, instead of someone else(?)'.

Just a small simple question really.......................

Friday July 17, 2009 12:37:

So its a game of 'Pass the £10m parcel' is it?

Judging by the comments made so far it seems that the 'Management Structure' is an upside down pyramid!

Therefore by my reckoning the cleaner is to blame!

But hey ho whats the point of a committee looking into it when nothing can be done to the people involved(?).

The bottom line ='s if it's a top civil servant who gets the 'blame' then he/she will retire to the 'garden' on a big fat pension, and if it's a politition to blame he'll offer up an apology and just....well carry on(!).................wonderful.

Wednesday July 15, 2009 21:02:

A States Pay Freeze(?) Saving £6m, with the monies not being used anywhere else(?), does this not mean that if you invest the £6m then the interest could be paid to the States workers(?).

But the bottom line ='s and I quote 'The money would not go into other projects or slip into departmental budgets, it will be saved not spent'.........source Treasury Minister Philip Ozouf.

Now that should be interesting(!) Just where are you going to save this money to(?)

And the development on the waterfront has been put on hold(?). Including the Old Abbatoir site(?). Thats funny we've been constanly told that the development has been 'good' and the spaces taken up......................more lies then(!).

But don't hold your breath on this one. The date 3rd September 2009 has suddenly appeared. Straight after the Harcourt principles saying that they don't need to find the £95m bond till the day before agreeing the lease details. That date wouldn't be the 2nd of September by any chance would it(?).

Tuesday July 14, 2009 20:22:

Just checking the diary (date), not content with building a mess on the waterfront, we now seemed to be taking aim @ French France by suggesting a tunnel be built (Jersey>France)......................uuuuuuuuuuuuuuummmmmmmmm...........somebody please kill me now (!!!)

Tuesday July 14, 2009 20:04:

And so the saga goes on and the lies(?) and untruths(?) continue.

Do we or do we not have a deadline(?) One says yes, one says no(!)

Do we really have to live with 'lying' people(?).....

Well someone is(!!)...lying that is(!).....

Monday July 13, 2009 7:44:

Not sure what 'Bumble' was talking about regarding how 'exciting' the test match was (?).

Ok 'talk up' the game but at the same time get in the real world, England were the usual overpaid alleged professionals who were really bad.

Deadline + 13.......................

Sunday July 12, 2009 19:03:

So here's a little 'poser' for you. Just been watching the UK Athletics from Birmingham and a certain Mr D Chambers was turned over in the 100m. Now the 'poser' is.....has he been found out again? You know 'that look' that appears when somethings wrong, well he had it.

But on a good note, Jessica Ennis is in superb form. The multi event, the hurdles and the high jump. After such a 'difficult' year (missing Bejing through injury) its great to see her back.

Saturday July 11, 2009 19:23:

Deadline + 11.........................never mind though. Debate time this week. And the odds of this 'idiotic' actually being shelved?................rather long me thinks!!.....

Friday July 10, 2009 22:10:

Deadline + 10..........................

Wednesday July 8, 2009 12:22:

And today an Engish lesson.

'What is the definition of a Deadline?'

The Oxford English Dictionary has this definition:

Noun

a time or date by which a job or task must be completed.

The States of Jersey have this one:

A date that has passed + 8 days

Do I need to spell it out?.................................

Tuesday July 7, 2009 22:02:

Officially Ignored 2009

Ok so now its official, the HDG affair is now closed. All the time and money spent packed away for good.

Right or wrong? Will we ever know the truth? If you put your ear to the ground you will hear some 'astonishing' stories, some true some false. Yes evidence is the key, but so is an independent 'team'.

How can the authorities that are 'so close' hold this investigation?

But two (2) people were brought in you might say (?). Yes only to cover up (!!) and protect people (in high places, in sensitive places?) and their 'mistakes' (GP is still suspended - why? - and LH retired under a cloud).

Who will finally judge them (?). A question that I think will never be answered.

Tuesday July 7, 2009 21:53:

The 'Cav's' on the march - again - he's looking good. And that other man's also looking good - Lance A - one in the eye for Alberta C. Should make life very interesting.

Thursday July 2, 2009 21:28:

Nice property @ La Saie. Don't know what the National Trust is getting all 'hot and bothered' about. Looking at the original photo of the premise, its just the same....NOT!!........wonder who Sarah Ransom is (?)............

Harcourt doesn't make the deadline (30th June 2009) with the £95m bond. Does it really matter, they'll get the contract anyway. What a waste of space........(both ways!!)...

All governments 'cook the books'..............we just make a mess of it (!!)......and spend the 'cash' in all the wrong ways.

I'm afraid Sen Syvret is a 'spent force' now. For all of his good work (albeit sometimes a little OTT) he's not going to get anything done in the States now. His efforts on the 'Hospital Death Inquiry' is evidence of this. He's completely right that the Inquiry is wrong, it's not 'aimed' at the 'guilty parties' but at a completely different area of the hospital. How not to get to the bottom of things, after all we can't have a senior civil servant be proved 'guilty' can we (!!).

'Heritage managing their money wrong'............blimey the pot calling the kettle black here then (!!). Its a good job the Chief ministers department is not making 2 jobs (@£400 per yr) from nothing.....wonder where he's got that money from then (??)................still never mind sure it'll be worth while, its for the finance department......doh!...more cash thrown down the drain.

Tuesday June 30, 2009 15:15:

Its like a scene from the film - The 3rd Man - with the players...Power, Walker and ??.......

The Chief Minister covers his own back (as normal)....'It is not Bill Ogley!'....he states to the 'mass's in the chamber............

.......But if any information (more) comes to light where he is seen to be involved, then 'he will be suspended!'...............uuuuummmm have you not done a 'full investigation' then Chief Minister?

The 3rd Man

Tuesday June 30, 2009 14:59:

Just watched an interview - on the BBC - with Serina Williams. Now that's how you handle yourself........Mr Murray, watch and learn please.

Ah.....an apology of sorts from the SA Rugby coach......

Tuesday June 30, 2009 7:35:

What a miserable t**t Murray (andy) is. Just watched his interview on Sky TV. Where's his PR company? Big long face, eating to camera, he really is not a 'Champion'!!

A true professional is 'elegant' on and off 'stage......

And the South African Rugby coach - Peter de Villiers - has to go! His comments after the last Lions match - in which two (2) SA players should have seen 'red' - states that 'its all part of the game'....really?? Eye-gouging is allowed is it?? Common practice?

Its Rugby not Ballet?...............watch the clip please and make up your mind.

Thursday June 25, 2009 21:56:

You'd never guess that there's a 'World Championship Event' being held in Jersey would you.

The event - The Dance World Cup 2009 - is being held at Fort Regent, although you'd never know if you read the Jersey Evening Post or any other media for that matter.

Amazing.....promote the Island, be proud of your Island, buy local.....but when something like this appears we put our head in the sand!

And we have World Champion's aswell....................come on JERSEY WAKE UP!!

Sunday June 21, 2009 20:46:

Well done the Ladies! World 20/20 Cricket Champions. One up on the boys!

Saturday June 20, 2009 22:29:

So who's kidding who? Treasury Minister states that Tax receipts are up and we are ahead.

Tax department states - 3,500 tax forms not returned!

Therefore = 3500 x 200 = £700k in fines

or 3500 x 5000 (av bill) = £17.5m (missing!!)

It's just me isn't it..................................................

Saturday June 20, 2009 22:28:

Team Columbia's at it again.....bring on the tour !

Friday June 19, 2009 22:31:

I note with interest that Team Columbia are 'racking' up the wins worldwide - here and here - before the TDF.

Predictions..............

Green Jersey - Mark Cavandish

Yellow Jersey - Edvald Boasson Hagen (non-runner)

Overall Team - Team Columbia.........................................

Changing tack for a moment.......something 'smells' in our Governmental offices (again)................it reminders me of the Italian Government, corruption, scandal, all hidden from the public eye.....until one day....doh!!...it all went wrong.....

Not that I'm saying it's that bad, but this 'transparence bit' doesn't seem to be working (their idea!). Nobody knows anything.....

Speak no evil...Hear no evil...See no evil....

Thursday June 18, 2009 21:55:

Tom Boonen's 'gone' from the TDF. Although experts say different things.

I know its all 'out of competition' stuff, but what message does it send out? Sorry but whatever your excuse.....once bitten....twice shy....know what I mean?

Wednesday June 17, 2009 7:31:

So apart from being a money spinner (sorry) just how does this 20/20 cricket 'lark' help in the development of cricket?

Its just an out and out slog! No wonder England can't win a Test match.

And on a sexist note, why no coverage of the Women's 20/20?

I'll promote it, the link's here......there in the semi's don't you know (better than the men!)

Tuesday June 16, 2009 21:28:

So we have 'secret files' on our States Members do we?.......will the letter writers to the JEP back end of last year please stand up. All seemed to 'slang off' Dep. Pitman (not a fan of his I might add) for his comments that he though his phone was being tapped......seems he was right...doh!!

Nothing to hide have we?..................

Lovely supplement in tonites JEP. All about having a holiday at home - think local buy local, blah blah....

Shame the majority of the supplement didn't show any prices!!!.......maybe thats where some of the £250k + another £25k...f**k me how much more money down the drain!!!

I can think of better ways of spending that kind of money.......

Tuesday June 9, 2009 20:21:

Well we seem to have a 'drugs problem' ...... again (!!).............strange that :)

Monday June 8, 2009 19:59:

Well that just 'sum's things up' really. Another £250k to an industry that is dead in the water, and then have the industry saying they do not know what do with the money(!?!).

Who on earth signed that one off ??

Friday June 5, 2009 21:08:

So ok I suppose I should makea comment about the HDG 'mess'. It'll be a short one, that being the 'system' might have 'failed' (not sure if we'll ever find out the 'truth') and all the avenues have been explored, its now time to move on and if Sen. SS is never wants this to happen again then he must put all his effort into 'updating' all the Laws and procedures - End of message.

Moving on and I suppose to just a bigger mess(!) Fort Regent needs a change champion, apparently(?) thats according to some Minister(s).

Now a name was put forward and low and behold another name comes into the 'frame' in an effort to work together(??). Now doesn't that mean we'd have two (2) change champions then(?) or is it just me(?).

A little history lesson now........many years ago the Fort (FR) had just one(1) person in charge and making the decisions. Then the Managers that were 'underneath' that person in charge (and the only one making the decisions! -Important point that!) were made Civil Servants, therefore not able to be 'put down' and also - most importantly - decided that each (now) Civil Servant should make a decision or two (2).

Not a bad idea you'd think, but what it meant it reality is that 8 out of 10 'managers' had to agree to effect a change (beginning to sound familiar?) no agreement no change(!!) and we end up in the mess we are in now.

Wednesday June 3, 2009 20:13:

'We will debate the Waterfront mess (my words) in the States before we decide'

Do you really thing that's going to happen? It might well go before the States but we don't have a 'hope in hell' of stopping it!!

Just a 'bunch' of words again.

Tuesday June 2, 2009 7:41:

On a 'Drugs related topic' that being the testing or non-testing of professsional and non-professional sports persons, an interesting story is breaking in Rugby Union. Three (3) Bath players has resigned over this issue...story here.....stating that a 'witch hurt and untrue stories' have 'forced' their hand(s).

Now if you've done nothing wrong why resign?....you decide......

Maybe now this issue of Drug testing will be taken seriously. Maybe it just isn't cycling thats 'bad'?

You an run but you can't hide!

Monday June 1, 2009 7:46:

Squeaky clean Jersey 'fiddling the books'?......well I'll goto the foot of my stairs!

Buy Local? Interesting comments really......and good 'spin words', no mention of 'what happens if the price is expensive or more expensive that anothers countries product'............yet again we are paying for the UK !!!

On that note, being a Jersey Royal 'lover' during the summer months. The best found so far are @ the shed at the bottom of Jubillee Hill and @ L'Etacq. £1 per 2lb bag. Easy to cook and quick to cook, nice size not to small nor to large.

Monday May 18, 2009 20:09:

Interesting news from the 'Daily Mail' and the author Martin Samuel -

'In the past three months, six elite British sportsmen have tested positive for drugs, with four suspended from their sport for up to two years. Another eight have missed tests or failed to comply with the whereabouts rule. Who are these people? We do not know.

UK Sport’s anti-doping programme director Andy Parkinson is not allowed to name names.

‘We are talking about athletes using extremely sophisticated global programmes,’ he warned, sagely. ‘And the UK is not immune to that as the case of Dwain Chambers has proved.’

Is it not remarkable, though, that more than five years after his positive test for THG, the name of Chambers is still bandied about while other cheats can hide behind this cloak of anonymity? Unless Chambers was one of those caught this time, why mention him at all, and why mention him alone?

It would appear that athletics has its bogeyman and, beyond that, cosy complacency still pervades.'

Now that makes you wonder, doesn't it?. But what I don't get is why no names? If it was cycling the names would be all over the place, or in fact another countries competitors!

Thursday May 7, 2009 17:29:

So lets re-cap............

11 rides, 979.50k in distance, 37hrs 47min 09sec in time. 3 books (!!) Alex Ferguson, Paul McGrath and Brian Clough read (Managing My Life, Back From The Brink and The Damned Utd, respectively). All in all a good 2 weeks really.

Just a couple of 'images' showing my performance on the bike (if you make head nor tail of them!).

So what of Majorca in April? Well indifferent weather, some good some bad, but overall good. The Island was busy for a week then suddenly nobody (5000 cyclists at one stage) no idea why everyone left or didn't come down. Anyway still the routes were good, the variation (personal chioce of course) is always there. Hills or flat or indeed a mixture. It still ranks as one of the best training venues for cyclists (or in fact Triathletes).

The complex (Club Pollentia) has under gone a couple of changes, as has the hire car firms (charging now for a full tank of fuel, whether you use it or not. Personally I will be changing the firm as I would never use a full tank) a notable change is the 'Board' 'Half Board' 'Full Board' or 'Fully Inclusive'. This is the first year that they have tried this, I got caught out (didn't notice when booking) when going in for dinner I was refused (at first!) for not having the correct 'card'. Once sorted though things were back to normal.

Its still as clean as ever, with very pleasant staff (the odd grumpy face at times), but the beds! never yet sorted out a 'good nites kip' in one. Not sure why but hey ho, one day!

I'm going to produce a 'route map' within a page later. Routes which I use and hopefully others can use. As expained on that page you find many new faces down there and many reading a map upside down inside out and well basically lost. If its your first time down there (as with everywhere really) it can be quite hard to find your way round. You also miss out on many of the lovely old towns (coffee/cake stops) as many of the roads now 'by pass' them. Anyway thats later.

Its such a easy place to read (going back to the number read over the 2 weeks). When the sun's out (majority of the time) you just pick a chair, away from the 'kids', there is a couple of nice areas of grass, and read away. The time of year means late sunshine (2100hrs sunset!) with heat still there.

After a long ride there's nothing better to chill out with a book, some fluid and food (of course!!) and read a couple of chapters.

The trick of course is to make a plan. Before you go arrange your rides - number of rides, distances and routes and of course rest days! - all in the best case scenario. Then 'adjust' if necessary on arrival by checking the weather. Cloudy days are good for the mountains. Rainy days are not! High temps are also not good for a 'long' ride in the mountains. This year I had a 6+hrs ride in the mountains, in great climbing weather (a good day) which by the time I gotback still gave me a couple of hours in the sun!

Anyway thats it for now, the next aim is the WPFG's during July/Aug in Vancouver.

Saturday May 2, 2009 6:56:

Two (2) quick things. One (1) on the left hand side you'll see a 'Notify me of any changes box'. I'm just running a test on this to see if it works. There seems to be a little bit of form filling, but once done its 'all steam ahead'. Please try it and see if it works for you (e me back if you have any concerns or problems please).

Secondly regarding the 'CERA' issue it seems to be just the six (6) still at the moment (with the normal....who me? never!). It does answer a question for me over the cyclist - 37yr old Davide Rebellin - who has just won the Fleche Wallonne 09. Not really at that age with ease!

Wednesday April 29, 2009 6:24:

BREAKING NEWS....................

6 test positive for the drug 'CERA'...............IOC have begun too inform the people involved.........more later................

Wednesday April 22, 2009 20:57:

So we have now got to the point that we cannot 'use' a green field for growing?

Residents want to grow vegetables in an allotment(!)

Maybe corruption does happen in Jersey(!).....................just who made that decision(?)

Tuesday April 21, 2009 20:09:

Just an observation or two, but...............

'If someone is not experienced in doing something, then why do it when the outcome can (did) cost millions?'

Plus having an investigation, just what powers do they have? Is this just another pointless exercise?

You cannot tell me that the Chief Minister will be sacked! After all he was in charge when the papers were signed...NOT...the civil servants!

And last but not least I bet that this would have a different 'slant' to it if the Euro had gone UP not DOWN.

The papers and Ministers would have been 'full of themselves' if that had been the case..............unfortunatly not, a bit of an 'own goal' me thinks!

Wednesday April 15, 2009 16:57:

So to re-cap on our ongoing saga regarding 'HDG' and 'assessories'........the Health Minister resigns (about time) stating he has been 'abused' had numerous allegations cited on him from an external source (Sen. Syvret).

Now as far as know if somebody(one) states any form of allegations (true or false) then the aggrieved party has a right to know all the information.

So why has Perchard not asked for this information in an effort to 'clear' his name, or, has the information already been supplied BUT ignored or WORSE!

Going for the sympathy vote doesn't work I'm afraid (albeit he is now 'out of office' still picking up a nice salary for doing nothing now!!)

I had absolutely no sympathy on seeing Perchard on TV attempting to defend himself for his actions. It was so bad it was untrue (yet another mess by the States PR unit, more money well spent). To say that you are going to 'learn' about his department (all areas).

Shouldn't you have been doing that already? seeing that the 'topic of the year was HDG!'

This brings in another topic of conversation really, that being:

'How much do Ministers know about their departments?' or

'How much should they know?'

Previous experience tells me that the answer to those points is quite simple. Nothing(!). But is that right? Personally(?) No, the trouble is that too many of them are in the States and sit on too many committee's. If you are to be successful then you must be in charge of just one Department (committee) and know this inside out(!). That way you can answer any 'questions' that come your way.

Wednesday April 8, 2009 17:29:

As mentioned previously - March 09 - this redundancy thing will bite us on the 'bum'.

And what happens?

Yep the first of 'many' companies start to 'go under'. Brilliant thank you yet again our bumbling Ministers (Southern stand up and be counted please!), we are now 'bailing companies out'...the taxpayer pays more again !!!!!!

Tuesday April 7, 2009 12:53:

Now I must admit I thought it was just me, but, thankfully it wasn't. The Jade Goody 'parade' was strange I could never get my head round it. All the time nobody could say anything because it was - eventually after 2 weeks of PR - highlighting Cancer.

But now Sir M Parkinson has stood up. Read what he has to say here.

Monday April 6, 2009 7:41:

On the national football front. Alan Shearer is 'Newcastle's saviour' (?) all the headlines ran this last week. Albeit only 8 games left, and really he has no hope of saving Newcastle, you only have to look at the team to see that. The word being 'team' you can only 'win things' by playing as a team, no individual can make a 'team'!

They say he's a 'win win' situation. Not his fault because Newcastle were already 'doomed', therefore no blame for AS.

But I'll place another 'angle' on it for you.....that being 'why didn't he appear earlier?'.......crafty AS and his advisers have picked the right time to join Newcastle.

If he really wanted to help Newcastle stay up then he should have appeared a good few weeks ago! Yes they did have another manager, but he fell ill and the job was left to a second in command, a man who couldn't do the number 1 job.

AS in my book your still a 'boring uninteresting person!'.

Monday April 6, 2009 7:31:

Well due to 'circumstances' its now time (got time) to start updating this site, personally and professionally. Ministers beware!

Friday March 20, 2009 19:43:

Oh dear here we go again:

Sen. Perchard = Swearing and insulting behavior in chambers and outside

Sen. Ozouf = No blame on him for Euro mess

Sen Le Sueur = Treasury Minister at time of Euro mess

Common factor= Untouchables, unaccountable ='s carry on gentleman.

Sunday March 15, 2009 16:26:

So just going on about the 'camera' issue (which now has been resolved allegedly!) we seem to have another problem within the Town area. Now if my memory serves we have a CCTV system which covers rather a large amount of Town. So why then do the retailers have to resort to hand held radios to 'warn' about any 'incidents' which might occur (?).

Could it be that the Police Service (Force) still have no powers over our 'little darlings' (?). If this is the case then of course they won't be 'turning out', what's the point (?) you get there, talk to them, let them go and go back home, wonderful (!).

Examples must be made I'm afraid I know its only a minority that cause trouble (and the lambs follow!!), but if you can't touch them, what's going to stop them (?).

Thursday March 12, 2009 17:52:

Well there's a shock, the camera's in the harbour were not all working(!) before the 'vandals' did their 'best'. It's a job we don't employ anyone to walk around the area....oh we don't(!) more cut backs, still away nobody 'sneaks' in via the harbor do they(?)...........roll up roll up please arrive via the harbor and bring in whatever you want(!).

£500k for tourism(?)...........why don't we just pour the money down the drain(?) it would be of more use(!).

Anyway we've got no hotel's (or vacancies within them) as the 'off shore workers' are filling them up(!) can't blame the owners really, albeit they should tell the general public and the taxpayer and the tourism authorities(!) change of use me thinks(!)

Monday March 9, 2009 22:02:

That redundancy thing is about to bite us on the bum. Why(?) well a precedence has been set with the Woolies thing, so where is the difference is someone else goes 'belly up' (?).....roll up roll up form a line (!!)...well if I was in business and looking like I'm in a bit of trouble I'd 'bail out'..............silly not to really(!)

Oh joy of joy's the Drugs Cheat DWAIN CHAMBERS wins gold at the europeans in Italy. Two (2) things that 'get' me, one commentator stated 'A medal's a medal !!' ..even if its someone who shouldn't be racing (?). I've not be reading his extracts from his 'new book' (deliberately) I wouldn't give him the satisfaction(!) but from what I am hearing/reading he could be in 'deep trouble'.

Thursday February 26, 2009 16:46:

So lets get this straight(?) Somebody else 'owns' the Bus Station (the all new singing and dancing masterpiece) and that the rent for said site is to go up by 100%(50k to 100k?). Another wonderful piece of Management by our Ministers(!).

So just where do they waste Money(?) If only Peter Sellers was still alive we could make a movie or two.

Monday February 2, 2009 20:40:

No recession in Jersey (?). So what do we call it Mr Le Sueur (?). Really can't comment on the latest resignations (HDG) I mean a group of professional people (?) sit on a 'committee' without knowing what they are mean't to be doing (?) See Sunday 25th for my 'further' feelings.

Tuesday January 27, 2009 22:09:

Priceless absolutely priceless.......you couldn't even write this one(!)........110 Hotel/Visitor beds and every single map reference wrong(!)..............

Never mind its not embarrassing its something we must 'address' (hahahahaha).....another highly paid 'cockup'..............

Monday January 26, 2009 19:10:

Well I'm glad the Ministers are Ok if they leave their 'employment'. It makes you wonder what 'provisions' they really have (?) bearing in mind that not all of them seek employment after their term of office (!).

The 1st line explanation (?)......well apparently our Ministers have a 'redundancy plan' nice to know that they are Ok then (!).......albeit we didn't seem to get a 'full years work' out of some (2008).

Sunday January 25, 2009 14:36:

You know when you just want to give up (that feeling?) raise your hands and say 'Ok gov fair cop!'..........well now that time has arrived....reasons (with brief explanation) below...

1. 'With have no Flu problems and our Hospital is is good working order'........2 days later we have a 'massive spread' in the rag stating we have a problem (big problem) with our H&SS department, and the Minister in Charge putting his reputation on the line(!)...wow that's brave of someone who's unaccountable(!)

2. 'No minutes of a meeting held by a couple of people regarding the suspension (illegal) of the Chief of Police'......3 days later minutes were taken and not destroyed (as reported in the rag!), so where are they then(?). Having read the CPO's letter (which wasn't published in the rag (for obvious reasons), he's asked several times for the minutes of the meeting and the policies to which the Ministers are 'working from'.....you don't need to know the rest (cue the circus music!!)

3. 'Jersey doesn't use the Euro!'..............now that'll bring the tourist flocking to the Island then(!!). Another brilliant waste of money (no doubt another consultant!). No need to state that we are already more expensive that Europe (getting/staying/etc in the Island.

4. 'Tax Tax and more Tax'........so what happens when you've taxed everything with nothing left to tax and you are still 'leaking and losing money?'....uuummmm.....

Monday January 19, 2009 7:52:

Excuse me (?)..........States Members (Ministers?) have not seen the contract for the Incinerator to be built (?)........Thats a comfort (!)......or should that be a worry (!).....again.

Funny how we are told to 'tighten our belts' and the Ministers again waste money(!)

Do as I say, not as I do (!).........sound familiar (?)

Sunday January 18, 2009 12:20:

A quote from the Jersey Spartan Athletic Club;

'It is with regret and sadness that I have to announce that one of our members passed away on Saturday. Jayson Lee was a well respected and talented member of the Jersey Spartan Athletic Club. He ran with enthusiasm and courage whilst encouraging others along the way. Jayson has been involved in many sports within the Island gaining successful results throughout.

Our thoughts go out to his family and all who knew Jayson.'

Jayson Lee 2009

I have known Jayson for many years, professionally and through sports. We tasted success in a Relay Team during a Jersey Triathlon Event, and talked many times on sporting issues. At the age of 38 it seems unbelievable that someone who has helped some many people should be taken from us so early in his life.

I wish to add my thoughts and prays to Jayson's Family. I shall be raising a glass to you Jayson (!).

Wednesday January 7, 2009 18:46:

Well done Francis Le Gresley (CAB)(letter JEP dated 07.01.09) for pointing out some very important points regarding the Woolies closure. Take heed Ministers making political gain out of somebody's mis-fortune does not work (!!) you must work within the current laws.

And you've gotta read this one - here - only in America(!) and OUCH(!) - here.

Saturday January 3, 2009 8:13:

No 'pay-off' for the Woolies staff (!?) Begs a couple of questions - 'How many other UK stores offer the same non protection?' and 'Just what will our Ministers do about this?' (the latter should be good for a giggle).

Mind you its the same for the finance industry, albeit they do 'pay-off' under the table (can't have the industry flagging can we! or seen to be going bad).

Friday January 2, 2009 18:14:

And there I was looking @ the new line up of the Ministers positions, wondering why some ministers have changed departments after being in charge for a couple of years.....and there it is again.......make a dogs dinner of a department and get moved on, that way he can't be held responsible for the mess left behind (!!) Well done Mr Routier (!!) excellent example of how to handle money and people (!) NOT!

Come on Mr Le Sueur lets all pull together (as per your orders in your New Year address) still unaccountable then (!!)

Had to change accommodation today, moved to Soller - The Grand Hotel - bit posh had to buy some shoes (new) got away with the trousers me hopes (sit in darken area of resturant). Took tram to Port Soller, very nice (good venue for lunch!), now back @ hotel, trying to get served (!!) trouble is not many people down yet for dinner. Trying in house menu, looks ok, but we all know what 'looks' can mean....laters........
